Be Mine

I like make Valentine's Day special for the boys. This year I decided to make heart-shaped grilled cheese and apple sandwiches with soup. I also attempted a cheesecake which actually didn't turn out too bad. I personally do not like cheesecake too much, but Colin does.

I bought Gid a little gift. The Cat in the Hat book. He just loves to be read to so much right now.

Love my boys!

Some homemade fun

We are SO ready for spring to roll around. Seems like we can't kick the sickies out of our house this winter. Colin is down for the count, so it's just been Gid and me hanging out the last couple of days. It's been hard to keep Gideon away from Daddy while he is sick and I've been running out of ideas to keep him busy.

This morning we made homemade play-dough. It was really easy and surprisingly, not too messy. Gideon enjoyed making cars and dinosaurs with it.

Uncooked Playdough

Materials

  • Bowl
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • Tempera paint or food coloring
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions

  1. In bowl, mix water, salt, oil, and enough tempera paint or food coloring to make a bright color.
  2. Gradually add flour and cornstarch until the mixture reaches the consistency of bread dough.
  3. Store covered.

"Jesus holds you"

I'm so excited about how Gideon is already understanding who Jesus is. Recently I purchased devotional cards through "Back to the Bible". The devotional cards are based on "My Relationship with God", "My Trust in God", and "My Faith in God". We started with "My Relationship with God" which basically teaches about the characteristics of God and who He is to us.

This morning, Gideon and I took some time to study one.
Topic: My Redeemer.
Verse: "You came near when I called you, and you said, "Do not fear." O Lord, you took up my case; you redeemed my life." Lamentations 3:57-58

I didn't expect Gideon to understand much, but I said, "When you are afraid, you can talk to Jesus...He is there for you all of the time." Gideon's response: "Jesus holds you."
That's just what I needed to hear today!
