One year ago...

a little boy entered this world kicking and screaming...and screaming...and screaming. I think Colin was in shock as he held Gideon for the first half hour of his life. This new little creature just screamed and nothing would stop him! But what an overwhelming joy came over us when we first laid eyes on him. He was perfect.

Here he is today. He's grown so beautifully this past year. It's been the hardest change in our lives, but the most rewarding. We're so thankful for our healthy and active little boy. Gideon is just as full of energy and life as the day he broke into this world. He really is proving true to his name..."mighty warrior."

We love you Giddy-boo!

Gid's 1st Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Gideon's 1st party! Yes, it's been a year already. We shared such a fun day with our family and friends. Gideon enjoyed it too although he didn't want any of his cake!!! How strange is he? He did enjoy the gifts however. Cousins Abby and Ava helped him open them. He's been loving playing with them all the past couple of days! I love it too because he's not hanging all over me every minute of the day.

Here is the first birthday cake I have ever made. It was chocolate cake with homemade butter cream icing. The one that Gideon would not taste. We even stuck his finger in the icing, but he gagged! What kid doesn't like sugar? I'm sure if he would have tasted it, he would have enjoyed it. He didn't like the way if felt though. That's my Gideon.

Daddy helped Gideon blow out his candles after we all sang to him. Surprisingly, he didn't cry while everyone was staring at him and singing! :)

We love him so much and are so thankful the the blessings he has brought into our lives this last year.

For thought

Sometimes I wonder-what kind of example am I leaving my children? What will they write on my tombstone or say about me after I'm gone?...Hopefully my epitaph will read something like this: "She hated folding laundry but liked to fold us in her arms."

The sweater project

So I FINALLY finished my knitted sweater. It seriously took me two years. I almost gave up on it because it was so frustrating at times. After Gideon was born, I put knitting to the side for quite a while, but am now back at it. I'm now working on baby sweaters...much easier than this one!!

Summertime...

...my favorite time of the year! Although, it really hasn't felt like a true summer yet. The weather hasn't been summertime hot and I've not been down the shore yet!! This week has been nice, sunny, and comfortable though, and we've been taking advantage of it. Colin bought Gideon a little kiddie pool and we've been making good use out of it all week! As I was relaxing in the sun yesterday, I just thought how blessed I am to be able to stay at home and raise Gideon. I know I always find something to complain about and I'd really like to change that. I have the best job in the world and don't want to lose sight of that. Yes, some days are hard and challenging, but when I see Gideon learn something new, it makes it all worth it. He is almost one now and it's amazing how much he has grown and learned. His favorite game is Peek-a-boo! Just watch...
